March 3rd, 2015 New Classes & Stash Amnesty is ON!

We’re open Mondays through Friday 10am-5:30pm and Saturday 10am-5pm. Closed on Sundays.

It’s SPRING - that means it’s time for Stash Amnesty and new classes! It also means it’s time for cleaning out, sprucing up the porch, and clearing out the cobwebs! We’ve got a line up guaranteed to help with all those things - it’s time for a fresh bunch of classes AND the annual Stash Amnesty program to spur you on to de-stashing, clearing space in the closet, and helping Project Linus.

Stash Amnesty is an annual event Tucson Yarn Co. has designed to help one of our favorite charity knitting/crochet endeavors, Project Linus. Last year, you generously cleaned out yarns you no longer want in your stash - the “what was I thinking when I picked that color?” yarns, the “I NEVER knit with stuff that bulky anymore” skeins, and the “I won’t live long enough to knit it all” box can all find new life in the magical hands of Project Linus knitters and crocheters who turn it all into wonderful blankets for children in need. Anything they collect that isn’t appropriate for their projects is sold at guild meetings to raise funds for their work so it’s ALL appreciated. Needles and hooks, too!  Check out their work at http://projectlinustucson.org.

In a nutshell, here’s how Stash Amnesty works:

1) you clear out what you don’t need or want or care to finish (yup, even partially knit stuff) from your “closet”

2) bring it to Tucson Yarn Co. between Friday, March 6-Saturday, March 21

3) we weigh it and log it in

4) you receive $1 per pound in Tucson Yarn Bucks to spend any way you’d like in the store (good through the end of the year!). New needles, sale merchandise, classes, those “bucks” are good for anything in the shop!

See? Simple as putting it in a bag and handing it over. You get space in the closet and get rid of the guilt, Project Linus gets lots of new yarns to keep their hands busy and provide comfort to those in need, AND you get a little reward for all that goodness! EVERYBODY WINS! Please dig deep and help us reach last year’s all time high of 1100 POUNDS! Come on, get busy!

And we mentioned clearing out cobwebs…mental cobwebs, that is. With our latest new class schedule you’ll find quite a few new choices to get you rolling with new skills. There’s a new offering with knitwear designer, Ann Faith - she’ll help you knit her latest toddler design, the adorable Fiona Flounce Sweater. Retha will help knitters jump into knitting in the round with her Cable Hat Class, Ava’s continuing with the terrific Deconstructed Cowl class (what a fun way to learn new stitches!), and Cyd is doing her once-a-year, Passport to Freeform Knitting & Crochet class. So go check out the new choices - click the link to the right to download the schedule or stop by and check it out in person. See why our classes fill so fast - they’re fun, offer small group setting and positive encouragement for growing your skills.

See you around the big table,

The Tucson Yarn Co. Crew
