Back in High Knitting Gear!

Welcome 2016! It’s prime knitting season here at Tucson Yarn Company, whether you’re in an afghan mood or scanning Ravelry patterns for sassy little slouch hats for your freezing family and friends in the snow belt!

The new yarns we’ve collected in late fall are finally rolling in to tempt you. We’ve got a fresh reload on all the delicious textures and colors from our friends at Dream in Color (did you know they are dyed right here in the Old Pueblo now?). Lots of subtle shades of dreamy lace weight Wisp, and of course, so many choices of Smooshy and Smooshy with Cashmere we can’t decide which one to pick (hint: buy in color “pairings”).

We’ve also ordered up 24 new colors of Rhichard Devrieze’s beautiful hand painted fingering weight beauties. Lots of Aranami possibilities, and all those Churchmouse patterns that use Koigu look great in Rhichard’s yarns.

More new goodies – we did a knit along with a shawl kit from Carol Sunday (Sunday Knits) and now we’re waiting for a shipment of a new group of her kits which include her amazing fiber to make it just as she designed it! Shawls, scarves, and more coming in a range of colors. We’re hoping to bring in her Eden yarn, a sumptuous full fingering/light sport weight yarn in 100% extra-fine Australian merino in a full palette perfect for accessories, color work, and well, just wonderful to work with.

Special events coming up Sockapalooza (a festival of show and tell of all the things YOU have made with fingering weight/sock weight yarns). And in March, one of the biggest stash busters of the year, our annual Stash Amnesty where we pay you for your unused, my-aunt-gave-me-this, the what-was-I-thinking-when-I-bought-this, yarns in your closet. You bring it in, we weight it up and PAY you $1 a pound in TYC Bucks good for anything in the shop! More details coming.

Big plans in the works for some special visitors coming to visit here at the shop, more details very soon, you know how we do events, so don’t miss out!

We’re hoping to revamp our website in the coming months so bear with us…remember to check our Ravelry page (Tucson Yarn Company) and like us on Facebook. We’re delighted to have all our winter visitors back with us, stop in and knit a bit, meet some new friends and of course, get inspired by all the great work going on around the big table!
