January 19th, 2012 Knitting in a New Year

Here’s hoping your new year is filled with all great things, plenty of yarn, and lots of energy to get all your UFO’s done!

News Flash! New sections added for Web Wonders, Shortcut to Short Rows, and Fabulous Felted Slippers! Check the revised schedule.

Why not learn a new technique, tackle crochet (or knitting!), or try a Knit Along? The Tucson Yarn Co. Winter 2012 lineup is available with lots of new classes to help you grow ad expand your knitting and crocheting skills in the new year. Check out the latest and greatest in classes with some new surprises thrown in. We’ve also included the Knit Along schedule for January as well with new themes and projects in a relaxed social knitting atmosphere - still free of charge! As always, classes fill quickly, especially the Saturday sessions, so review the schedule, make your choices, and call or stop by to register. Due to schedule constrains there are no make-up sessions available for missed classes so check your schedule carefully.

Some highlights include three new sessions of the Passport to Freeform (for those who knit & crochet), new Freeform Playdates, Web Wonders with new sessions added (learn all about how knitters/crocheters can use the Internet as a tremendous resource for information and inspiration), the Ripple Beret, Shortcut to Short Rows (a great scarf is the bonus!), EZ Felted Slippers, Introduction to Magic Loop Knitting, and more. Don’t get stuck in a rut - take on something new!

More BIG news -we’re starting off our winter KAL(Knit-Along) season with special projects and groups for all sorts of knitting joy! Watch this page for the latest info on each month’s choices - we’ve expanded the number of choices each month with lots of inspiration and camaraderie to keep your knitting moving along to completion.

NEW EVENING KAL Wednesdays, January 11, 18, 25 5-7pm Un-Finished Objects Workshop (UFO’s Get DONE!)

Time to get ‘er done!

Is there an unfinished project lurking in your closet that you’ve been dying to get done? Now is the time to have some fun with others who are in the same boat! We’ll encourage you & have some light hearted conversations & just a good time. Here’s a way to schedule a knitting date with yourself & make some headway on that project!
KAL (Knit-Alongs) start prior to store closing at 5pm - our door will be closed at 5:30pm and no non-participants will be allowed in the store during KAL. No exceptions.

For those of you new to KAL’s, here’s how a Knit-Along works:

· All Knit-Alongs (KAL) are free, but we ask you sign up so we can reserve you a seat.

· There is no formal instruction during a KAL. This is not a class, but a great opportunity for you to become part of a knitting community.

·We encourage you to come in and knit in a group environment. This is a chance to meet new people, make new knitting buddies, and to be inspired by each other.

· The experience should be enriching and encourage you to expand your knitting skills by working on the same project in a group setting.

· A member of our staff will be your host, but not your instructor. The KAL is a place to relax, have fun and be productive at the same time.

· We’ll open an hour early for KAL participants (or stay late if you’re doing the evening KAL). Participants should arrive no later than 9:15am as we’ll be locking the door so we’ll have the shop to ourselves (because technically the shop isn’t open for business until 10am).

Each month we’ll spotlight a different pattern/project for the KAL to keep you moving along to completion.

All in all it’s shaping up to be an exciting season here at TYC, so get ready for a great year of knitting and crocheting in 2012. Thanks for all your support…

Peace, love & knitting,
The Tucson Yarn Crew
