August 20th, 2010 Back on Track!
It’s been a hot one, sort of a non-soon monsoon summer for a lot of folks here in the desert, but we’re still knitting fast and furious in the comfort of air conditioning! Now that school days have started for lots of families, there’s a certain nagging about impending holiday projects that you KNOW you should be starting soon!
Whether it’s a sweater for a special someone, or a flurry of sock knitting for favorite grandkids, the time to start planning your holiday knitting strategy is now. We’re starting to receive new patterns for all sorts of things that will make your gift giving a joy. It doesn’t have to be a big project to be special, check out all the wonderful one skein books which have continued to multiply in the last few seasons. Use it up or give it away, these little projects can help reduce your stash and delight the lucky recipient.
The TYC Fall Class Schedule is also available (click on the link on this homepage to download it) and we’re taking registrations for a full line-up of knitting and crochet classes. The popular Wonderful Wallaby Workshop is back, the Entrelac Scarf class will get you going on great holiday gifts, and new this fall, Knitting Inside Out will have you mesmerized with knitting circular shawls the easy way! It’s a big line-up with lots of Saturday choices, too, but they will fill fast so register early. By the way, there’s still room in the debut session of Cyd’s newest workshop, Pattern Sense which will be next Friday, August 27 from 10am-12noon. If you’ve ever been mystified by reading knitting patterns, this is a class you won’t want to miss!
A last note, MadelineTosh Sock is finally here and there’s a new shipment of Malabrigo Sock as well as the two laceweights with lots of new colors to tempt you (OK, drive you crazy is more like it!). It’s not just for socks, we’re using it for everything from shawls to scarves to baby sweaters to, well, you get the idea. It’s just beautiful fingering weight merino that is superwash to boot!
Hope to see you around the big table soon -
Cool knitting,
The Tucson Yarn Co. Crew
