The weather is glorious, we’re already making sun tea and doing some porch knitting as Spring arrives in the Old Pueblo. Lots of excitement for new projects (OK, and finishing up some UFO’s), with new yarns, restocks on our favorites, and in general, it’s just a good time to be knitting or crocheting here in Tucson! For our winter visitors, just watching the weather on the east coast is enough to change those tickets to fly back a couple of weeks later….
Our Spring schedule of great classes and workshops, with LOTS of brand new offerings, is now ready for your consideration. Click on the link at the right to download the latest schedule that will take us into summertime. Missie is teaching a class on the Celtic cables of the Dunedin shawl by Lucy Hague, as well as an intro to Fair Isle knitting with the Glacier Park Cowl. Cyd is taking basic sock knitters into cabling and chart work with the Morrison Socks that are stunning in that wonderful Ultra Wool DK, and there’s also a new modular class featuring the elegant Asanagi Rectangular Shawl, perfect for color play in the Peppino fingering weight yarns from Rhichard Devrieze. More new classes, both skill building and project based, so click on that schedule to the right to download the latest!
Registration is open now, give us a call or stop by! Classes fill quickly!
Right now we’re enjoying the new colors of Dream in Color that just hit our shelves. It’s definitely looking like spring with so many wonderful new colorways you won’t be able to pick just one! Fingering weight beauties are great on their own, or have some fun with all the multi-color gems on Ravelry like Find Your Fade, Mixology, Aranami and many, many more! The Peppino from Rhichard Devrieze is so beautiful also, why not pick a fresh basket of these pastel beauties for your spring knitting or crochet project? Easy care superwash merino, these skeins have 225 yards and make it easy to work with a varied palette.
In the DK department, we’re really excited about our newest addition, the easy care yarn from Berroco, Ultra Wool DK which blocks up with a delightful drapey finish (check out our Guernsey Wrap sample). Lightweight with great yardage (292 yards per skein), it’s a perfect three season yarn in lots of wonderful solids and heathered shades. We’re thinking the classic Churchmouse Library Vest or some of interesting Fair Isle hats and cowls that are showing up on our Ravelry list.
Hoping you are enjoying this glorious weather and Spring in the desert. We appreciate your continued support in making Tucson Yarn Co. your place for the finest in knitting and crocheting supplies and inspiration!
