January 21st, 2015 Designer Norah Gaughan & YOU at Tucson Yarn Co.!
We’re open Mondays through Friday 10am-5:30pm and Saturday 10am-5pm. Closed on Sundays.
It’s time! Recognized knitwear designer extraordinaire, Norah Gaughan is arriving tomorrow! It’s taken us two years to get her here, but this weekend, January 23-24, she’s going to be in our shop to meet you and show off her Try On Trunk Show featuring the designs from her latest design collection (Berroco Book 16). But there’s more - she’s going to offer two unique workshops in our special “studio space” created just for this event.
You won’t want to miss these small group workshops with Berroco’s most famous designer who will give you a look into her design process and get you in the swing of designing your own unique “this really fits me” garments with super simple-to-knit shapes! She’ll be offering you a choice of two exciting 3-hour workshops that have wowed knitters at Vogue Knitting Live and other big events. But unlike those big event classes, we’re limiting this to just 20 folks per workshop, and registration is open NOW! She’s excited, we’re excited, and no matter your knitting level, you’re going to love it! (PS Some folks are doing both!)
This is what Norah just posted on our Ravelry page:
“I hope to see you all there! Just a note about the workshops - you’ll be experimenting with designing to fit your personality. It’s not all about fitted garments. One workshop is about making cool garments with unexpectedly easy shapes (Saturday) and the other gives insight into the creative process of designing (Friday).”
The Try-On Trunk Show of her Berroco designs will be available both days and you’ll be able to personally meet her in the shop from from 10am-12noon prior to those afternoon workshops.
Here’s the workshop line up:
Explore Norah’s take on the artistic side of designing, from inspiration to stitches, swatches, and sketches. After an overview of the design process and Norah’s creative philosophy, the class will divide into several smaller groups to work on the planning of mini collections. Prerequisites: ability to knit/purl and a curiosity about knitwear design.

Fun Geometric Sweaters Saturday, January 24 1-4pm $125

Norah will guide you through how to turn those “shapes” into an actual garment perfectly fitted to you. Turn your swatches into exciting unique designs. Prerequisites: adventurous beginner
Materials: two yards of light colored polar fleece, scissors, permanent markers, graph paper, worsted weight wool and range of appropriate needles for swatching.
