Join the conversation! Find our group on Ravelry to get the latest on our Knit Alongs, shop happenings, and see what’s on our needles - tucson-yarn-co. Our KAL group gathers Saturdays from 9-11am and is free of charge, it’s not a class, it’s hosted social knitting and we pick a different project for each month.
Next up is a month filled with quick knit and crochet gifts, hustle for the holidays, and hopefully, some knitting and crocheting to recharge our batteries during the season! We’ll be celebrating right along with you and to get us all in the mood we’ll kick of December with a holiday tradition we’re pretty fond of, our big Lantern Moon Trunk Show on Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6. We’ve order up lots of Lantern Moon’s special gift items guaranteed to please just about everyone on your gift list (well, maybe not Uncle Ed), including lovely fine hardwood needles, unique project bags, interesting baskets and more. We’ll have some fun door prizes and specials so put it on your calendar as an antidote to the “mall rush”.
We’ve also planned some free mini-demonstrations for you with our Wednesday Knitting at Noon Series of special tutorials on a variety of knitting and crocheting techniques. Each time we’ll offer a free 30 minute mini-lesson designed to pique your interest in things like Judy’s Magical Cast On, Modular Knitting, and more. We’ll post the complete schedule here after Thanksgiving!
If you’re looking for a little easy but fabulous knitting that requires almost no concentration, check out our project of the season - the Churchmouse Yarns & Teas Mohair Scarf/Wrap. With four colors of Rowan’s Kidsilk Haze you can create a cloud of silky color to circle a special someone…we’ve got quite a few samples of both the scarf and striped wrap to inspire you, ask us to pull out our needles and we’ll show you some more ‘cuz we’re all making them!
Need more gift ideas? Take a look at the One Skein books, there’s quite a nice collection of them. Churchmouse Yarns & Teas have come up with some great things like their Magic Three-Yarn Scarf/Wrap, their simple-yet-sophisticated Picot Washcloths (we love the color choices and lovely sheen of Cascade Ultra Pima for these), or even a perennial practical favorite (even for fussy teenagers) the Welted Fingerless Gloves you can whip up in a DK weight yarn like Rowan’s Felted Tweed.
Thanks to all of you who took advantage of our month of Secret Santa Sales, the finish was spectacular and we’re all focused on knitting for holiday gift giving, for our fiber sanity breaks, and well, for keeping ourselves toasty as cooler weather moves in!
Woolly Regards and Happy Holidays to all,
The Tucson Yarn Co. Crew
